Garner man stabbed victim multiple times, police say

Garner police arrested a 20-year-old on Friday for an incident in which a man was stabbed five times.

GARNER, N.C. — Garner police arrested a 20-year-old man on Friday for an incident in which a man was stabbed five times.

Derek Louis Griffis, of Forest Ridge Road, faces one charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury for the June 1 attack.

The victim suffered cuts on the arms, head and thigh and a collapsed lung as a result of the stabbing wounds, police said.

Griffis was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $150,000 bond on Saturday.

Griffis has previously been convicted for assault with a deadly weapon, common-law robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempted possession of a firearm by a felon. He served six months of jail time for a probation violation in 2007.
