Durham police to seek clues Tuesday in boy's shooting death
The Durham Police Department and members of Project Safe Neighborhood will go door-to-door Tuesday afternoon searching for clues in a shooting that killed a 9-year-old boy and injured his mother on Jan. 4.

Authorities say 31-year-old Lakeisha Holloway and her son, Jaeden Sharpe, were traveling on Lucas Drive at about 6 p.m. when shots were fired into their vehicle.
Holloway drove to a nearby street to get help, and she and Jaeden were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Jaeden died Friday, and authorities have not released more information about Holloway's condition.
Durham police have not released a motive in the shooting, and they are hoping Tuesday's canvass will help develop leads in the case. Several residents who live on Lucas Drive said that they heard at least six gunshots.
Jaeden Sharpe was a student at W.G. Pearson Magnet Elementary School, according to a spokesman with Durham Public Schools. Counselors were at the school Friday to help students and staff who need to talk.
“The staff and students at W.G. Pearson Elementary School are very saddened by the loss of Jaeden Sharpe. He was a popular and well-liked third-grader throughout our school community," Principal LaManda Pryor said in a statement. "Our school counselors and administrators, as well as staff from our school district, have been on hand all day helping our staff and students who have wanted to talk to someone, and they will be available next week. Jaeden’s family is in our thoughts and prayers.”
