RALEIGH, N.C. — The driver of a heavy equipment truck was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being burned by a fire that started in the back of the truck.

The fire started on a piece of equipment in the bed of the truck while the driver was parked at a gas station on South Saunders Street in Raleigh. The driver pulled the vehicle away from the pumps before stopping on the road near Maywood Avenue.

Raleigh firefighters doused the flames a short time later.

The driver, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns.
