Crews clear fire on I-95

A tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 95 south near milemarker 52 in Cumberland County caused a major traffic back-up Thursday afternoon.

The state Department of Transportation reported that all southbound lanes were closed just before 5 p.m. and a detour was posted. By 5:30 p.m., only one lane remained closed.

Southbound motorists can follow the detour route, in blue on the map. Take Exit 56 to U.S. Highway 301 South, to N.C. Highway 210 South and return to I-95 at Exit 49.
