Kelly Currin Morris' skeletal remains were found in a fox pen in southern Granville County on Nov. 16, 2009, more than a year after she disappeared. Her husband, Scott Morris, pleaded guilty in 2011 to second-degree murder and is serving a 16-year sentence in prison.
"This is something that you never recover from," Juanita Currin, Kelly Morris' stepmother, said Monday. "We live with it every day."
"Over the past year, we've been brainstorming about what things we could do to raise money so that we can support the needs of the community, and this concert has kind of developed," Currin said.
Carroll, who grew up in Youngsville, is known for such singles as "Livin' Our Love Song," "Hurry Home" and "Numbers."
