FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people have been charged with a candy store robbery in which a clerk was slashed across her face, police said.

Jason Powell, 18, and Tysheem Rashad DuBose, 21, have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries.

A knife-wielding man robbed Jim’s Candy Corner, at 3311 Bragg Blvd., slashing the 79-year-old clerk across her face after she had handed over money to the robber, police said. The man fled in a waiting car, police said.

A Fayetteville police officer later stopped a car matching the description of the getaway car and found the clerk's credit card, two knives and other evidence, police said.

The clerk required several stitches and staples for her injuries, police said.
