NY Times selling 3 N.C. papers, 13 others in group
The New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT) is selling three North Carolina newspapers and the 13 others in its Regional Media Group, other print publications and related businesses to Halifax Media Holdings LLC for $143 million, theTimes announced.

Founded in 2010, Halifax Media is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Fla., where it owns The News-Journal.
The company’s investment group includes Stephens Capital Partners LLC, Jaarsss Media, and Redding Investments.
The other newspapers in the deal are the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in Sarasota, Fla.; The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa, Calif.; The Ledger in Lakeland, Fla.; Herald-Journal in Spartanburg, S.C.; Star-Banner in Ocala, Fla.; The Gainesville Sun in Gainesville, Fla.; The Tuscaloosa News in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; The Gadsden Times in Gadsden, Ala.; The Courier in Houma, La.; Daily Comet in Thibodaux, La.; Petaluma Argus-Courier in Petaluma, Calif.; News Chief in Winter Haven, Fla.; and North Bay Business Journal in Santa Rosa, Calif.
