Britton saved, Rayshun eliminated on 'The Voice'

Last week, Chapel Hill native Rayshun Lamarr was saved for a second straight week, but his performance Monday night wasn't enough to put him through to the final round.

On Monday night, each contestant sang one solo song and one duet. Lamarr chose John Lennon's "Imagine" for his solo performance and received quite a reaction from the crowd. Later in the show, he sand a blend of "Believe" and "Radioactive" with Jackie Foster.

Sanford native Britton Buchanan was in the bottom three Tuesday night, but was saved by voters casting their ballots in real time on social media.

Buchanan on Monday night performed his duet with Brynn Cartelli, and the pair sang a blend of "Four Five Seconds", by Kanye West, Rihanna and Paul McCartney, and the Rolling Stones' classic "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

For his solo song, the Sanford native performed "Rising" by Bruce Springsteen, who he has referred to as his biggest musical influence.

Buchanan’s former drama team classmates and teachers said they knew that if anyone would make it to the national stage, it would be him.

“It’s absolutely incredible watching. Last year, he was on our stage. He was Danny when we did ‘Grease’ and then all of a sudden, here he is,” said drama teacher Ron Coley. “I mean, I always knew he had the talent, but to see it happen is just crazy.”
