The folks at Enso are talented and passionate about parkour. Our instructor, Nick, said parkour is about challenging personal boundaries and pushing the limits of what you can do physically. In this way, the staff hopes to get people moving and encourage visitors to set personal goals.
With safety and a goal in mind, visitors can work their way up to a certain stunt through training.
So what is parkour, anyway? Enso defines it as "a training methodology for a person to safely overcome obstacles efficiently within their physical environment." There is a slight difference between parkour and freerunning, which incorporates other disciplines like gymnastics and martial arts. In parkour, you move efficiently to conserve energy, while in freerunning, you express yourself while moving.
While we at Out & About are rookies when it comes to parkour, we had fun learning some new skills and challenging ourselves. Plus, we got to spend time just rolling on the ground and jumping into foam pits. If that's not stress relief, I don't know what is!
Enso Movement offers several classes for all ages and abilities. Kid's classes (ages 8-12), teen classes (12-16) and adult classes (16 and up) are designed to safely teach the fundamentals of parkour; build strength, endurance, conditioning and flexibility; instill confidence, integrity and character; relieve stress and offer regular exercise.
