Designer Showhouse

Posted — Updated

If you are looking for something fun, helpful and heroic to do this weekend let me suggest the Carolinas Designer Showhouse at North Hills in Raleigh in the 3600 block of Rolston Drive. Sponsored by The Woman’s Club of Raleigh the ASID Designer Showhouse gives you a chance to see two townhomes, not one as typical for an event like this.  Interior designers have worked for months planning and installing the stunning interiors and furnishings for these two Ramblewood locations. You will take home a wealth of decorating ideas.

The Woman’s Club says that almost every day during this three week event a designer will be on-site to discuss what they considered when decorating the space and answer questions. Art sessions and designer how-to sessions are scheduled throughout the Showhouse which ends June 1. Marcy Hege who is helping out with the big event says “you’ll learn all about color schemes, furniture arrangement and how to use various spaces.” Okay, that’s the fun and helpful part of this event.

Here’s the heroic part. The $20 admission you pay goes to a very worthy cause. The Woman’s Club of Raleigh donates funds from the Showhouse to Hospice of Wake County to assist with that organization’s new facility and grounds, especially the Chapel garden. During the 2006-08 program of work, the Woman’s Club of Raleigh has donated more than $40,000 in goods and services to Hospice of Wake County.

There is also a gift and garden gallery which contains hundreds of items not typically found in local shops. Shop proceeds also benefit Hospice of Wake County. I was honored to be chosen as a musical contributor to this cause.
