RALEIGH, N.C. — As rumor has it, the father of Raleigh, Joel Lane, won over the committee in charge of selecting the location of North Carolina's capital with the help of a few adult beverages at Isaac Hunter's tavern.

Some 219 years later, those same libations will be served in his name. On Aug. 15, Joel Lane's Public House will open its doors, serving up hearty sandwiches and some of the best beers North Carolina has to offer.

The bar and restaurant will be at 410 Glenwood Ave, Suite 350.
