One of readers, Maria, asked me to post her question about favorite day trips from the Raleigh area. Here's your chance to share your favorite places to visit in NC that involve a day or short weekend trip. I have also included a number of resources with great ideas for NC day trips!

"I HAVE ONLY LIVED HERE A FEW YEARS AND WOULD LOVE TO DO SOME DAY TRIPS TO SOME COOL PLACES AROUND HERE ON THE WEEKENDS....WE HAVE BEEN TO SEVERAL BEACHES, ORTAN PLANATION (WHICH IS NOW CLOSED) AND UP TO GRANDFATHER MTN....CAN YOU MAYBE POST THIS FOR SOME ADVICE FROM ALL THE GREAT SMART SHOPPERS YOU HAVE?
