RALEIGH, N.C.Big Boss Brewery in Raleigh unveiled its latest promotional item last week - the Beercade.

The device combines arcade gaming and beer. With a keg in the back, the machine dispenses a sample of Big Boss beer to the winner and a smaller sized sample to the loser.

The beercade's first arcade game?

The Last Barfighter - an old school fighting game in the vein of "Mortal Kombat" or "Street Fighter." The competitors are all characters based on Big Boss' year-round brews: Hell’s Belle, Bad Penny, Angry Angel, Blanco Diablo and High Roller. In addition to basic fighting moves, they have their own specialty attacks like Bad Penny's butt slap.

Folks in the Triangle got a chance to try out the machine on Wednesday at Big Boss during a special event to raise money for Camp Kesem, an organization that empowers college students to make a difference in the lives of children affected by a parent’s cancer. People playing the game were encouraged to donate to the group.

The machine will be brought out for special events and parties and possibly some festivals. You can try out The Last Barfighter again on March 22 during another benefit for Camp Kesem at Big Boss.

The game and the machine itself were created by McKinney advertising agency.
