Youngsville man charged with threatening Perdue
State troopers arrested a Youngsville man Saturday for allegedly threatening to kill the governor.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to arrest warrants, Dennis Matthew McDermott, 30, told a witness that "when you see Bev Perdue with a .38 slug in her head, I did it." He reportedly added, "Call the law and I'll take care of them, too."
McDermott, of 1071 Holden Road, was charged with threatening a public official and was being held in the Wake County jail on a $150,000 secured bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
According to court records, McDermott was indicted last year in connection with a target-practice shooting that sent a stray bullet flying, killing an 85-year-old World War II veteran who was walking nearby.
