DURHAM, N.C. — A man died Friday afternoon after being shot in the back outside the Millennium Hotel in Durham.

A spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department said officers were called to the hotel, at 2800 Campus Walk Drive, around 2:45 p.m., where they found the victim in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at Duke University Hospital.

Investigators haven’t released the name of the victim or further details surrounding the crime, but they say they do not believe it was a random act. They said it did not appear the man was staying at the hotel.
