Camp Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

A Camp Lejuene-based Marine was killed Wednesday while supporting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune-based Marine was killed Wednesday while supporting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province.

The Department of Defense identified the Marine as Pfc. Eric D. Currier, 21, of Londonderry, N.H. Currier was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

A massive NATO offensive is under way in Helmand, which is a stronghold of the Taliban.
