A Nash County Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer is getting extra protection on patrol.

The sheriff’s office announced Freya, a K-9 with the sheriff’s office, received a vest to protect her from stabs and gunfire.

The vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a charity whose mission is to provide protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the country.

The vest is valued at $1,800.
