Teen found shot in the face Tuesday in Durham

Deputies found the teen at the intersection of Barbee Chapel Road and Farrington Mill Road. Authorities said the teen's injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Authorities found a teenager shot in the face on Tuesday in Durham.

According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Barbee Chapel Road and Farrington Mill Road about a person shot.

The sheriff's office said the victim, a 16-year-old, was shot in the face at another location and was driven to the area of Barbee Chapel Road.

Barbee Chapel Road was closed for several hours between Mill Chapel Road and Farrington Mill Road, but has since reopened. Sky 5 was over the scene and saw authorities searching one vehicle on the road.

Deputies searched a car at Barbee Chapel Road.

Authorities said the teen's injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and deputies are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office at 919-560-0900.
