12-year-old dead after accidental shooting involving sibling, Lenoir County sheriff says

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy who was found shot Thursday evening.

KINSTON, N.C. — A 12-year-old student at Contentnea-Savannah School passed away Thursday evening from a gunshot wound.

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, which they believe was an accidental shooting involving a sibling.

The incident took place just before 7 p.m. on the 2600 block of Dean Drive in Kinston.

The LCSO has contacted Lenoir County Public Schools officials, and guidance counselors will be at the school on Friday to assist students.

Authorities say the boy died as a result of a gunshot wound and the incident is currently being investigated.
