Man charged with kidnapping, strangling woman after dragging her into the woods at gunpoint, Lee County sheriff says

Around 8:30 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a woman being assaulted and pulled into the nearby woods at gunpoint in the Moody Road area of Lee County.

CAMERON, N.C. — A man has been arrested after a woman was seen being pulled into the woods at gunpoint on Monday.

Around 8:30 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a woman being assaulted and pulled into the nearby woods at gunpoint in the Moody Road area of Lee County.

Deputies arrived on scene and found the woman and suspect in the woods near 584 Moody Rd.

Michael Jerrod Joseph Lawson, 22, was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • First-degree kidnapping
  • Assault by strangulation
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Assault on a female

Lawson was placed in the Lee County Jail under no bond.
