Man arrested after 'live' explosives found in his home

Officers in Alexander County responded to a call about stolen property on Sunday night, but they located something much more dangerous at the home, according to a WCNC report.

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Officers in Alexander County responded to a call about stolen property on Sunday night, but they located something much more dangerous at the home, according to a WCNC report.

While searching the home on Fowler Road, officers also found a possible explosive device. Police secured the scene and requested the help of the Wilkes County Bomb Squad, who arrived at the home Monday morning.

Bomb technicians found that the explosive device was live. They rendered it safe but found a second explosive shortly after. Later Monday, police and arrested 31-year-old Alan Goins.
