RALEIGH, N.C. — Part of Interstate 440 East in Raleigh was closed Friday morning after a dump truck crashed into an overpass at Ligon Street, Raleigh police said.

The crash occurred before 4:15 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Western Boulevard. Injuries were reported.

According to police, the dump truck had the bed of the truck up, which caused it to hit the bridge, turn onto its side and land in the median.

Two lanes on I-440 were closed for close to four hours between Hillsborough Street and Western Boulevard. The crews on scene had to first stand the dump truck upright before being able to tow it away.
