Democratic leaders from North Carolina, Washington and beyond are planning to gather in Raleigh next month to prepare for the 2024 election.

Gov. Roy Cooper’s campaign committee on Thursday announced plans to host a Democratic Leader’s Summit Oct. 27-28. Listed speakers include U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, campaign strategist and former Georgia State Rep. Stacey Abrams, as well as North Carolina Democrats such as Attorney General Josh Stein, who’s running for governor.

North Carolina is expected to be a battleground state in the 2024 elections. Cooper’s announcement says speakers plan to discuss democracy, elections, voting rights and more.
