Two adult kayakers rescued from Neuse River off New Bern Avenue in Raleigh
Raleigh and Knightdale fire departments responded to the Neuse River Bridge on New Bern Avenue to help rescue the kayakers, who lost their paddles.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two adult kayakers were rescued Monday night after they were stranded on a small island in the Neuse River near New Bern Avenue, according to the Raleigh Fire Department.
Raleigh and Knightdale fire departments responded to the Neuse River Bridge on New Bern Avenue to help rescue the kayakers, who lost their paddles. Crews floated a boat to the island to get the people out.
There were no injuries and both people rescued shared the same kayak.
The rescue took about 15 minutes.
All lanes of traffic along New Bern Avenue have reopened.
