Bullet splinters bedpost after drive-by shooting narrowly misses sleeping victim

The victim of a drive-by shooting was taken to the hospital after being shot at while sleeping in their bed in Wayne County.

The victim of a drive-by shooting was taken to the hospital after being shot at while sleeping in their bed in Wayne County.

The sheriff's office and EMS responded to the shooting at 1222 Eagles Nest Road around 1 a.m.

The victim was asleep at the time and was treated for minor injuries.

Officials say the bullet hit the bedpost and splintered it. The victim was not actually struck by gunfire, but was hit with wooden fragments from the post.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made at this time.
