Highway Patrol: Flatbed truck overturns on I-540, driver possibly impaired

The accident happened just before 5 p.m. Sunday near Creedmoor Road

RALEIGH, N.C. — A flatbed truck crashed Sunday afternoon on I-540 in Raleigh.

According to Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 5 p.m. Sunday between Creedmoor Road and Six Forks Road.

Highway Patrol believes the driver was impaired when the truck overturned and crashed.

The truck appeared to be carrying a forklift as well as a load of bricks, cardboard boxes and wooden pallets.

Authorities said the driver was the only injury in the accident. The extent of the driver's injuries are currently unknown.

Two lanes of I-540 were closed after Exit 9 around 5 p.m. but have since reopened.
