Man, 40, killed after being hit by car in Durham

Durham police officers said the accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Monday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man has died after he was hit by a car Monday night in Durham.

Officers responded to a car crash shortly after 9 p.m. on Fayetteville Street near East Cornwallis Road.

Shon McDaniel, 40, of Durham, was walking across Fayetteville Street when he was hit by a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro.

McDaniel was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Investigators said the driver had a green light when the crash occurred, and the driver stayed at the scene.

No charges were announced.
