DURHAM, N.C. — The American Ballet Theatre company announced Monday it will be bringing its latest production, "Giselle," to the Durham Performing Arts Center.

In addition, the ABT is allowing the community to know the company better with auditions to perform as an extra in the production. The ABT is new to the Durham area.

"The supernumerary, or extra, joins the talented ABT dancers onstage for each performance and plays a small role in the ballet, complete with hair, makeup and costumes," the company said in a release.

People living in Durham and the surrounding areas can experience the opportunity to be in the production by registering for auditions, which are set for 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.

The castings will be for the following ages:

  • Boys: ages 8 to 14, with a height between 4’6” and 4’9” and a shoe size of US 5.5 and smaller.
  • Women and Feminine Presenting: 14 years or older, with a height between 5'5" and 5'10" and various body types.
  • Men and Male Presenting: slender, heavyset, various builds, heights and ages

The people chosen will participate in three rehearsals before performing with the ABT main Company between Thursday through Sunday.
