Food Bank article: Recipe Library with budget friendly recipes
March is National Nutrition Education Month, and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is sharing their recipe library!
Posted — UpdatedThis year's theme for National Nutrition Education Month, "Fuel for the Future," highlights the importance of fueling our bodies at every age and eating with the environment in mind. The Food Bank strives to raise awareness around food and making healthy choices that will better the quality of life for all in our service area. And with this year’s theme in mind, they have added even more recipes to their library that encourage the use of gardens and other sustainable practices.
The Food Bank’s Nutrition Education team, which is composed of nutrition experts and a registered dietitian, created these recipes with the needed nutrients to fuel your body and mind while not breaking the bank. There are recipes for: beverages, desserts, dips, fruits, grains, protein, and vegetables – all these recipes could be a snack, a component of or an entire meal. They even feature food items that you may not have tried before. Don’t worry, they have tips and tricks for how to serve those items and make them more approachable.

About the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
The Food Bank not only feeds those who are hungry; but also works to benefit community health. That’s why, in 2016, the Food Bank launched a Community Health & Engagement Department. With nutritionists on staff, the Food Bank shares recipes, healthy tips, and other resources for partner agencies and neighbors in need. The on-site teaching kitchen in Raleigh offers cooking demonstrations and nutrition education to highlight easy, quick, and low-cost recipes using healthful foods like whole grains, fresh produce, low fat dairy, and lean meats.
