Police learned Amos-Dixon fired several times into the vehicle that Chung and her child occupied as they tried to leave.

Shortly before 6 a.m., Virginia State Police and Bland County Sheriff's Office were alerted to a homicide suspect parked at the rest area on Interstate 77 in Bland County. A pursuit began and Amos-Dixon intentionally rammed a police vehicle along I-77 before crashing. Amos-Dixon, 25, tried to escape on foot and was eventually found around 11:39 a.m. in Bastian, Va., after an hours-long search.

Chung was taken to the hospital where she is stable. The child had minor injuries.

Amos-Dixon is being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin, Va.

Harnett County Sheriff’s Office currently holds a warrant for Mr. Dixon for two counts of attempted murder, 10 counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
