Rocky Mount police say a man has confessed to shooting a man and a pregnant woman in front of her children and leaving them inside a car parked outside Barnhill Construction.

The two toddlers, who were not hurt, were found in the car with the bodies of Devone Brown and their mother, Destiny Wiggins.

On Wednesday, police revealed that Wiggins was 12 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting. Her unborn child also died when she did.

Eric Coley told police he arranged to meet Brown and Wiggins in the parking lot at Barnhill, where he was an employee, in the early hours of Dec. 1.

Coley, 42, was arrested Dec. 2 and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held at the Nash County Detention Facility without bond for all three murder charges.

Police said he admitted to shooting Brown and Wiggins, but they are still investigating what led to the murders.
