Police: Wilmington woman tried to poison husband, son

A Wilmington woman was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly trying to poison her husband and son, police said.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A Wilmington woman was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly trying to poison her husband and son, police said.

Susan McNair, 72, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of contaminating food or drink with a controlled substance. She was being held in the New Hanover County jail under $800,000 bond.

McNair put cleaning products and paint primer into her husband's and son's drinks on July 28, causing them to fall seriously ill, police said.
