Kimberly Herndon filed for unemployment benefits in March and she still doesn't know the status of her claim.
She is a server at Texas Steakhouse, and is raising two boys on her waitress wages.
"It's like dealing with a brick wall every day," she said.
She calls the North Carolina unemployment office every day

AS YOU'RE GOING THROUGH THE MENU, AT SOME POINT IT KICKS YOU OUT, BECAUSE IT TELLS YOU THE SYSTEM IS OVERLOADED, AND THERE'S SIMPLY NO ABILITY TO TALK WITH A PERSON, AT THIS TIME, AND THEN THEY DISCONNECT YOU.

“We have been increasing our staff and upgrading our technology in response (to) the unprecedented number of filings we’ve received.”
She goes on to say they should have “800 people on the phones by the end of the week.”
Dooley acknowledges the tremendous work load, but says it's time for him to get benefits.
