RALEIGH, N.C. — Tickets are on sale now for the 4th annual Cooking for a Classic chef competition.

The event brings together eight top Triangle chefs. Held over a two-week span starting Feb. 24 and ending March 11, the chefs compete against each other in a bracket-style competition, serving up appetizers, entrees and desserts at 1705 East in Raleigh. Votes from the public determine which chef will win a 2002 Chevy Corvette Convertible.

The dinners are open to the public, and the best part is that the entire competition is a fundraiser for the Lucy Daniels Center, which provides mental health services to children and their families.

Tickets, which can be purchased online at cookingforaclassic.com, start at $75 for the first round, $100 for the second round and $125 for the finale.

Each dinner include two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts. Following each course, guests can use their devices to judge the dish, and a winning chef is announced at the end of each event.

The schedule for 2020 includes:

Round One:
  • Monday, Feb. 24: Eli Rodriguez of so•ca vs. Kevin Smith of 41Hundred at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel
  • Tuesday, Feb. 25: Blake Gotliffe of Under the Oak Restaurant vs. Kyle Teears of Whiskey Kitchen
  • Wednesday, Feb. 26: Kyle Fletcher of Wye Hill vs. Scott Ruzicka of Mia Francesca
  • Thursday, Feb. 27: Andres Kaifer of Vidrio vs. Bill Heckler of STIR
Round Two: Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 5
Finale: March 11

All Cooking for a Classic events will be held at 1705 Prime, located at 1705 E. Millbrook Road. The bar will open at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

All proceeds, including beverage sales, will go to the Lucy Daniels Center.
