FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Walmart in Fayetteville closed after a hazmat situation Wednesday night, officials said.

The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to the Walmart, on Ramsey Street, around 10:30 p.m. after reports of a smell of natural gas in the store.

The store was evacuated until crews could find a source.

An employee said the smell dissipated after a line was cut. The Walmart reopened at 6 a.m.

The fire department said no one was hurt.

Investigators haven’t said what the smell was or where it was coming from.
