Shakori Hills announces music lineup for October grassroots festival
The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival announced on Monday the performance lineup for their upcoming fall festival.
Posted — UpdatedThe Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance takes place twice a year on a 72-acre festival site at 1439 Henderson Tanyard Road in Pittssboro. Thousands attend the four-day family-friendly grassroots festivals known for music, dancing, arts and camping.
Dozens of North Carolina artists and national acts will perform at the Oct. 3-6 festival, which is celebrating 16 years. Some of the names include Galactic, Hayley Jane, Donna The Buffalo, Sierra Ferrell and Yes Darling. Some popular local names include School of Rock, the Bulltown Strutters, Into the Fog and more. The full list of artists, which includes a diverse variety of musical genres, is below.
Food trucks that will be on site this year include Chirba Chirba, Cilantro Mexican Cuisine and Kerala Curry. There will also be tents serving coffee and pastries, pizza, doughnuts, burgers and hot dogs, eastern-style barbecue, ice cream and kombucha.
Some festival attendees choose to camp at the site for one night or multiple nights, while others just spend the day. Sustainability, dance and music workshops are offered throughout the festival in addition to kid's activities like face painting, yoga, arts and crafts, pumpkin carving and comedy shows.
Camping prices are by tent, not by night, and start at $25 for a 10 x 10 or smaller tent. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Four-day passes for the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival start at $114 for adults and $59 for youth if purchased by Sept. 29, while one-day passes start around $30 adults. After Sept. 29, tickets can be purchased at the gate.
