LINDEN, N.C. — Officials at the North Carolina Emergency Management are keeping an eye on Michael as the hurricane speeds towards Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

Administrators said their goal is to make sure local departments have restocked their resources after Hurricane Florence slammed parts of the Tar Heel State last month, causing widespread flooding in many regions.

Officials are eyeing Harnett County, which suffered massive flooding damage from Florence. Many Harnett residents are still trying to recover from last month's storm.

Three weeks ago, the Little River started to overflow into one family's property in Linden.

Eventually, 5 feet of water flooded the family's home, ruining furniture, clothing and other items. The woman who lives here told WRAL News that the family's been in the home since 1972 and they've never seen flooding like that.

Many other families experienced similar situations because of Florence.

It's why everyone is keeping an eye on Hurricane Michael, hoping it doesn't cause the rivers to flood again.

Emergency Management officials said they are ready to assist in any way, and declare another state of emergency if necessary.
