FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities reopened a route in Fayetteville after a police chase and car crash resulted in extensive damage to property and prompted law enforcement authorities to close the road for several hours.

The stretch of Glensford Drive from Raeford Road to Montclair Road reopened around 3 p.m. following a burglary and police pursuit in Cumberland County that happened early Wednesday.

Officials said the suspects crashed their vehicle while trying to elude police. The suspects fled from the scene in their vehicle after refusing to stop for police, authorities said.

Police said the suspects threw weapons out of their car during the chase. Sky 5 video showed a crashed SUV with debris at the scene as well as downed power lines.

Motorists were asked to find alternative routes and avoid the area during the incident. Motorists can take Skibo Road as an alternate.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
