Man wanted in string of Durham armed robberies apprehended in Florida
A Durham man wanted in several armed robberies downtown last fall was arrested Friday morning in Florida, police said.
Posted — UpdatedAntonio Rashawn McGhee, 35, was arrested in Palm Bay, Fla., by members of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force. He was being held without bond in the Brevard County jail pending extradition to North Carolina.
McGhee faces more than a dozen counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with four robberies between Oct. 2 and Oct. 8 in which people walking near downtown were forced by a man with a gun to withdraw money from a nearby ATM.
