RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a woman’s body was found along a Wake County road Sunday morning.

Authorities said the body of Faith Chere Bevan, 24, of 1002 Buckhorn Road in Garner, was found in a ditch in the 7800 block of Caddy Road at about 7:30 a.m.

Authorities said Bevan’s body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death.

Family members told WRAL News that Bevan was the mother of a 5-year-old girl and they have no idea what could have led to her death. The child was now being cared for by her grandparents.

Those who knew Bevan said her house is less than 10 miles away from where her body was found. Those living in the area were concerned Sunday night, including Marshall and Rose Harris, who were surprised when an investigator showed up at their door.

"He asked me if I had seen anything during the time and I told him 'no, I hadn't' because me and my wife went to the store earlier and so I hadn't seen nothing else," Marshall Harris said.

"I think like, that could be my child or grandchild, because I have grandchildren too at that age, and I think about that so it really hurts your heart. It really hurt my heart real bad," Rose Harris said.

Authorities said the death is being investigated as a homicide. The news made resident Jeanelle Marlow feel uneasy.

"We usually sleep with our doors open," she said.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff’s Office at 919-856-6911.
