Investigators recovered hundreds of pieces of merchandise. They believe most of the merchandise was stolen. The Sheriff's Office set up a fake storefront off Old Stage Road in southern Wake County that had the look and feel of a real pawn shop.
"We noticed an increase in property-related crimes, and as a result of that, we felt this was an option for us to see if we can have them come to us," says Lt. Ken Dodd of the Wake County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators believe this sting could result in a dozen more arrests. They also want to reunite people with their stolen goods. The Sheriff's Office is posting the merchandise online on theirWeb site.
