Posted — Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A former Durham mayoral candidate with a criminal past was arrested Friday on charges of driving with a revoked license.

Vincent Brown, a Republican candidate running for Durham mayor dropped out of last month's election just days after court records became public that showed he had apparently served time in prison for forgery.

Police took Brown to the Magistrate's office late Friday on a warrant for failing to appear in court for the charges of driving with a revoked license.

Brown was released on a written promise to appear in court Monday.
