CARY, N.C. — The recent heatwave is not only affecting people.
The on-ramp to U.S. 1 and Highway 64 South in Cary buckled during rush hour Thursday when temperatures soared close to 100 degrees.
State Department of Transportation crews shut down one lane at a time to quickly repair the road.
The work slowed traffic in that area to a crawl.
