Fort Bragg apartments safe after false suspicious chemical report
Some residents at Randolph Pointe apartments on the base were evacuated as a precaution, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fort Bragg was given the all clear Wednesday night after authorities determined a report of suspicious chemicals was unfounded.
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum said authorities received a call about 7 p.m. that a suspicious chemical was at Randolph Pointe apartments, located on the base.
He said some residents were evacuated as a precaution while a hazardous materials teams search the area. Nothing was found and the all clear was given about 8 p.m.
McCollum said no arrests were made immediately following the incident, which remains under investigation.
