Woman charged in Durham man's death

Police said Monday that they have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Durham woman in a fatal shooting early this month.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police said Monday that they have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Durham woman in a fatal shooting early this month.

Jamelia Jaunique Thomas, 23, of North Roxboro Street, is charged with murder in the Sept. 1 death of Jerry Wayne Morgan. She wasn't in custody as of Monday morning.

Morgan, 54, of Sidneys Way, died at Durham Regional Hospital a few hours after being shot on Cheek Road. Police said he had been working on a vehicle when a woman approached him, exchanged words with him and then shot him.

Thomas and Morgan knew each other, according to investigators.
