As faithful Go Ask Mom readers know, I feature local moms on the site every Monday.

Today, we have an update on a feature I wrote earlier this year. It's about Katie Kelley and her brood. The Raleigh family - Katie, her husband and their two kids - left for an adventure of a lifetime in February - a year-long trip across the country, visiting national parks and living in a Airstream trailer.

The first month has come with ups and some unanticipated downs, but the family is powering on after a brief break in Raleigh for some updates to their trailer.

"The first 3,000 miles our trip through Florida have gone pretty well after a rough start," Katie tells me. "While visiting our first parks in South Carolina and Florida, everyone got really sick. We had to go to my parents' house to recover and disinfect the trailer."
After a week of healing, the Kelleys embarked on a pretty amazing trip through the Everglades. If a visit to this part of Florida is in your future, Katie shares this great itinerary.

The family returned to Raleigh this past week for some work on the Airstream. They plan to leave for California this week to spend the spring, summer and fall visiting parks out west.

All of the time, Katie has been writing regularly about the experience - including her decision to quit her job and her reservations about the trip.
I am looking forward to sharing more about this family's amazing adventures, but you can keep up-to-date on it all thorugh their Adventure Possible site. Love that they are definitely keeping it real!
