Krispy Kreme Challenge is virtual this weekend - Concern over rising COVID-19 cases in Wake County prompted organizers of the 2022 Krispy Kreme Challenge to shift the event to virtual-only.
5th Annual Big Frosty Beer Festival (Raleigh Beer Garden , 614 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh) - Raleigh Beer Garden will host its annual beer festival on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The lineup will include a mix of local, regional and national breweries offering samples. There will also be live music and food. The festival will be happening in the climate-controlled event tent behind the venue. Tickets are still available.

Lunar New Year Market (Big Boss Brewing Company, 1249 Wicker Dr, Raleigh) - Triangle Pop Up will be hosting a special market to celebrate Lunar New Year on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Big Boss Brewing, featuring live performances, food and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders-owned businesses. There will also be a raffle benefiting the Stop Asian Hate Organization.
Valentine's Pop-Up Market (Crosstown Pub & Grill , 140 East Chatham Street, Cary) - Crosstown Pub will host this pop-up market on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
LOVEfest mini market (State of Beer, 401 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh) - State of Beer hosts this Valentine's Day mini-market on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
First Friday Raleigh (Downtown Raleigh, 219 Fayetteville St., Raleigh) - It's First Friday in downtown Raleigh this week. February First Friday visitors will enjoy extended art gallery hours, great food and other fun activities, including a LOVEfest mini market at State of Beer.

On Stage

Comedian Marlon Wayans (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main Street, Cary) - See this actor, producer, comedian, writer and film director on stage at Raleigh Improv this weekend. He has shows Friday through Sunday.
Musician Shana Tucker (Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W. Morgan St., Durham) - See this singer-songwriter on stage as part of the Carolina Theatre of Durham's family series on Saturday morning. The Carolina Theatre of Durham is requiring all fans over the age of 12 to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours OR full vaccination for entry. The City of Durham is requiring face coverings to be worn while at the theater.
Nickelpoint Brewing Comedy (Nickelpoint Brewing Company, 506 Pershing Road, Raleigh) - Enjoy comedy Friday night at Nickelpoint Brewing starting at 8 p.m. The lineup includes Josh Rosenstein, Isatu Kamara, Artsy Musa and Aaron Ransom. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
Romeo & Juliet (Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater, 2 East South Street, Raleigh) - Carolina Ballet is proud to perform once again the beloved tale of Romeo & Juliet. Set to Prokofiev's magnificent score, Weiss' ballet is a faithful retelling that expresses all the drama and pathos, action and tenderness, humor and heartbreak found in this legendary story. See it on stage Fletcher Opera Theatre through Feb. 19.
North Carolina Songwriters in the Round (Lincoln Theatre, 126 E. Cabarrus St., Raleigh) - Jason Adamo presents this event Sunday night from 7 to 10 p.m. at Lincoln Theatre. It will include a collection of North Carolina songwriters including Eric Holljes of Delta Rae, Paige King Johnson, Mysti Mayhem, Abigail Dowd, Brent Jordan of Porchlight Apothecary, Stephen Jenkins and John Sierra. Tickets are $15 in advance.

A few family fun picks

Durham Black History Car Scavenger Hunt - Search in the City presents this interactive challenge that will explore 10 locations across Durham. It is a 90-minute self-guided tour that requires you to follow clues, take photos and videos of your adventure and correctly complete a word challenges to complete the hunt. The cost is $10 and the tour runs through the end of the month.
Pop-up Museum at Dix Park (Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel on Dix Park, 1030 Robertson Dr., Raleigh) - Dix Park's first-ever Pop-up Museum is hosting two inspiring history exhibits through Feb. 27. The first is Plantation to Park, which shows a layered history of Dix Hill. The second exhibit is titled We Built This and it is a showcase of Black architects and builders in North Carolina.
Poe's annual Terrific Teeth Day - Terrific Teeth Day is from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 5. The event is designed for preschoolers to third graders and their families. Plus, it's free!
