Raleigh's Veterans Day Parade was Saturday, but there are a few events after that to mark the day and honor those who have served.

Raleigh

Marbles Kids Museum will host special Veterans Day activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11. They include crafts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a rocket salute at 1 p.m. and an obstacle course from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It's free with admission, which is $7 per person.
The N.C. Museum of History will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, and offer a special 20% discount to all active duty and retired duty (with ID) at its Museum Shop. All museum galleries will be open. Be sure to check out the new Toy Boom! exhibit, which features a special section on war-related toys.

Cary

The town will honor veterans with a special ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Freedom Park, 1513 N. Harrison Ave. The ceremony will feature speakers from the Town of Cary and local armed forces community support groups. There also will be an opportunity for participants to honor individuals who have served.

Asheboro

The North Carolina Zoo is celebrating Military Appreciation Week by offering free admission to military members for the entire week of Nov. 9 to Nov. 17. In addition to the free admission for the military member, the zoo is extending $2 off admission for up to six accompanying guests. This special military discount is offered to all active duty, veteran and retired military personnel as a thank you for their service to our country. You must bring an approved photo ID to receive the discounts.

New Bern

This happens on Sunday, Nov. 10, not Monday, but I still wanted to mention it ... Tryon Palace will offer free admission to all active duty and military veterans and their dependents and minor children on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 10. (Because Tryon Palace is closed on Mondays, it will recognize the occasion on Sunday.) This free admission will include access to the Governor's Palace, historic homes, North Carolina History Center, and 16-acres of gardens. Military ID or proof of service is required for free admission.
