WAKE Up and Read is hosting its third annual community book drive to gather books to donate to kids in need.

Organizers hope to collect more than 110,000 books this year. They'll be distributed to targeted elementary schools, child care centers and community centers in the spring so kids, who might not have their own books at home, will have books to read over summer vacation.

The book drive runs through March 3. You can donate new and gently used books for kids ages 0 to 12 at donations sites across Wake County, including at Quail Ridge Books, Marbles Kids Museum and YMCA of the Triangle locations. The group encourages businesses, individuals and schools to start up their own book drives as well.
More information is on its website and Facebook page.
