A church youth director has been charged with sexual battery on a 14-year-old boy, authorities said.

Harold Dean Jacobs, 54, of 543 Hezekiah Road, was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. He was released on an unsecured bond and has a court appearance scheduled for Nov. 16.

The charge is in connection with a February incident after a youth function at Prospect United Methodist Church, authorities said. The boy, now 15, isn't a member of the church, authorities said.
